Paws on the Beach at Saunton Beach – 22nd May 2016

With Paws on the Beach just over 2 weeks away, we wanted to give you a quick update on the fantastic events that will be taking place on the day.

Since the last announcement, Dogs Helping Kids are excited to be able to confirm that Green Lanes will be sponsoring the Big Sit (please register for this event). They have also received a generous donation from Finisterre, who have donated a huge number of prizes for the event in support of the doggy surfing.

A number of new stallholders have been confirmed for the Marketplace, including: APDT, Oscar Pet foods, Dogs for Veterans , Claire Barker (author of the Knitbone Pepper books), Dogs for Good, Veterans for Dogs, TTouch, Canine Massage and Forevermore. To see a full list of stallholders, please click here.

As a dog owner, you’ll be more than familiar with Kong toys…DHK have managed to secure a selection of fantastic Kong toys as prizes for the K9 Factor – don’t forget to register for this event to be in with a chance of winning some!

On the day, keep an eye out for samples of Lily’s Kitchen – the popular dog food company has donated lots of free samples of food to give to give out. If you’ve got a fussy eater, Lily’s Kitchen may well be what you’ve been looking for!

Please note: You MUST register to take part in the Big Sit and the K9 Factor. You can do so on the Paws on the Beach Website.

We’ve made sure that there’s a category for everyone – what classes will you enter your pooch in?

The Big Sit – Register NOW

We’ve been so close on both previous attempts – let’s make 2016 the year that we break the world record! This world record attempt will take place at 1.30pm prompt.

Please note: You must register to take part in this event.

The K9 Factor – Register NOW

The K9 doggy talent show is your opportunity to show off the fun tricks that you and your dog can do together! Perhaps show off some of your dogs best tricks or choreograph a freestyle routine…you can do anything you like as long as you’re both having fun, so get creative and get ready to take to the stage!Judges include special guests Gwen Bailey and Sarah Fisher.
Heats will be running throughout the day. Please note that you must register before the day to take part. We will then be in touch with your ticket information and performance time slot for the day. We are asking for a donation of £1 per dog to take part, which can be paid on the day.

The minimum age for handlers taking part is 12 years old. Please make sure that you have read, understood and agree to follow The K9 Factor code of conduct before you register for the K9 Factor.

Doggy Surfing Demo

Come to watch as we take to the waves at Saunton Beach and put on a fantastic demonstration of Doggy Surfing (from 3pm). Huge in America, this awesome canine sport is relatively unknown in the UK and so we’re excited to be showcasing a professional demonstration at Saunton.

Enjoy watching specially trained canine athletes take on the waves, and perhaps chat to one of the experts about how to get your dog started in the swell!

Dogs go FREE at Saunton Beach Villas, plus we’ll donate £30 to DHK!

Looking for somewhere to stay for the weekend of the Big Sit? For the weekend of the Big Sit, the kind folks at Saunton Beach Villas are waiving the dog charge and have agreed to donate £30 from every booking to Dogs Helping Kids!

Saunton Beach Villas enjoy a prime location nestled on the edge of the beach, just minutes away from all the fun! This means that guests staying at the Villas during the event will benefit from exclusive easy access to the big event itself! There is no limit on the number of dogs you can bring, so it’s like a home from home for the whole family.

Each Villa has its own enclosed garden and a dog bed is provided. If you are bringing more than 4 dogs, they do ask that you give them a call so that they can advise a Villa most suited to your requirements (4, 6, and 8 bed Villas are available). Saunton Beach is one of the only beaches in the area to allow dogs on all year round, so it’s an ideal location for dogs to take their owners in all seasons!

Simply book online and enter PAWSOTB at the checkout to take advantage of the dogs go free offer!
