Get down to Saunton Beach on 22nd May for Devon’s doggy event of the year!
Come and join us at Saunton Beach on 22nd May for an action packed day of doggy themed events for you and your four legged friend.
Show off your dog’s special talent in the K9 Factor, help in an attempt to break a world record in The Big Sit, watch as specially trained dogs take to the waves in a doggy surfing demo, and get involved in the family fun Dog Show.
Paws on the Beach has been organised by Dogs Helping Kids (DHK). Saunton Beach are strong supporters of this wonderful charity who are dedicated to training carefully selected dogs, known as ‘School Dogs’, to help teach children and teenagers non-violence, empathy, respect, kindness, love, responsibility, friendship and trust. DHK School Dogs work in schools, colleges and library environments across the country as educational and therapeutic aids. Find out more about DHK.
Dogs go FREE at Saunton Beach Villas, plus we’ll donate £30 to DHK!
Looking for somewhere to stay for the weekend of the Big Sit? For the weekend of the Big Sit, the kind folks at Saunton Beach Villas are waiving the dog charge and have agreed to donate £30 from every booking to Dogs Helping Kids!
Saunton Beach Villas enjoy a prime location nestled on the edge of the beach, just minutes away from all the fun! This means that guests staying at the Villas during the event will benefit from exclusive easy access to the big event itself! There is no limit on the number of dogs you can bring, so it’s like a home from home for the whole family.
Each Villa has its own enclosed garden and a dog bed is provided. If you are bringing more than 4 dogs, they do ask that you give them a call so that they can advise a Villa most suited to your requirements (4, 6, and 8 bed Villas are available). Saunton Beach is one of the only beaches in the area to allow dogs on all year round, so it’s an ideal location for dogs to take their owners in all seasons!
This offer is only available for phone bookings. Call Saunton Beach Villas on 01271 890052 and tell them that you’ll be attending Paws on the Beach to take advantage of this great offer!
Help us to break a World Record!
Come and help us in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record in The Big Sit!
This event is an attempt to break the World Record for the largest number of dogs sitting simultaneously for 30 seconds. We’ve come close before, but unfortunately didn’t quite make it…can you and your dog help us to achieve it this year?!
This event will take place and 1.30pm prompt and you must register before the day to take part.
Does your dog have a special talent? If so, then we want to see you at the K9 Factor Talent Show! Perhaps your dog sings, you might dance together, or maybe your pooch has a funny talent that is totally unique…as long as you and your dog are enjoying yourselves, anything goes!
Special guest judges include Gwen Bailey and Sarah Fisher.
Heats will begin at 10am and will run throughout the day. You must register before the day to take part.
Have you ever seen a dog surf? Well now is your chance! Come and join us on the beach as we watch a team of specially trained dogs take to the waves and show off their surfing prowess.
The sport is huge in the States, but relatively unknown in the UK on a professional level…until now! Doggy Surfing will take place at 3pm.
